The Vocational Training Council (VTC) and Schindler Lifts (Hong Kong) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 2nd July 2025. This collaboration will establish internship programs, capstone projects, industry seminars, and jointly develop virtual reality training systems to cultivate engineering professionals with expertise in smart city technologies and vertical transportation.

As digitalization and smart technologies drive global urban development, innovative vertical transportation systems (including elevators and escalators) have become fundamental to building efficient, safe and sustainable cities. The partnership combines VTC's strengths in vocational education, applied research and STEAM education with Schindler's industry-leading technical expertise to explore innovative R&D applications. Building upon this partnership, Smart City Innovation Centre will collaborate with Schindler to further develop cutting-edge elevator solutions including: IoT-enabled smart elevator systems, energy efficiency optimization technologies, and predictive maintenance platforms.
