Smart Mobility: Driving Towards Sustainable Future

VTC Smart City and STEAM Challenge Cup 2025 is to encourage students to unleash their creativity, apply their STEAM-related knowledge and skills, and develop feasible innovative technological solutions to address various challenges. By doing so, we actively promote STEAM education and foster sustainable development in smart cities.

This year, the theme is "Smart Mobility: Driving Towards Sustainable Future". We encourage students to reflect on how innovative thinking and STEAM knowledge can be used to provide sustainable solutions for the transportation system in Hong Kong. These solutions should offer new perspectives, stimulate imagination, and create fresh experiences for the community. We hope that students will actively participate and contribute their intelligence and creativity to shaping Hong Kong's future.

This year's prizes are exceptionally generous. Our centre will award over HK$60,000 to the winners, with the champion group receiving an electronic gift voucher valued at HK$6,000!

THEMES AND ELIGIBILITY

• The competition is open to secondary school students and VTC students from the Diploma of Foundation Studies Programme (DFS) or the Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) programmes or the Diploma of Vocational Baccalaureate (DVB) programmes.


• Each project team shall consist of 3 to 5 students from the same school or campus. Each project team shall invite a teacher or an instructor from the participating school or campus as its contact point with the Competition Secretariats for all the matters relating to the Competition.


• The proposal must be an original work of the project team. By submitting an application to the Competition, the participants agree that the copyright in the entries shall vest upon Smart City Innovation Centre and STEAM Education Centre absolutely.


• In case of disputes, the Organiser reserves the rights of final decision, including suspending, terminating or changing details of the Competition and its terms and conditions without prior notice.

YOUR CHALLENGE JOURNEY

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES

1st Round

• Format:

Presentation: Create a PowerPoint presentation that does not exceed 15 slides.

Video: Include an introductory video with a maximum length of 2 minutes.



• Content Requirements:

Problem Statement: Clearly define the issue at hand.

Proposed Idea: Present your innovative solution.

Benefits: Outline the advantages of your proposed solution.

Implementation Plan: Describe the steps for executing your idea.

Final Round

• Update Proposal Content: Revise and enhance the content of your initial proposal based on feedback and insights gained.


• Prototype Presentation: Include a prototype or visual representation of your idea to illustrate its functionality and design.


• Presentations will be conducted face-to-face in front of the judges.
