VTC Smart City and STEAM Challenge Cup 2026 is to encourage students to use their creativities and apply STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) knowledges to develop feasible and innovative technologies solutions to solve different problems. It aims to actively promote STEAM education and promote sustainable development of smart cities.

The theme for this year is “Building Smart and Sustainable Future City”. In this challenge, we inspire students to conceptualize innovative ideas, applying their creativity and STEAM expertise to improve the quality of life for citizens. This includes a focus on advancing environmental sustainability and delivering practical, sustainable solutions for a greener future.

SECONDARY SCHOOL CATEGORY



 

 

  • Each project team shall consist of 3 to 5 students from the same secondary school. Each project team shall invite a teacher or an instructor from the participating school as its contact point with the Competition Secretariat for all the matters relating to the Competition. Each participating secondary school may nominate only one team for the Competition.​

  • The proposal must be an original work of the project team. By submitting an application to the Competition, the participants agree that the copyright in the entries shall vest upon Smart City Innovation Centre and STEAM Education Centre absolutely.

  • In case of disputes, the Organiser reserves the rights of final decision, including suspending, terminating or changing details of the Competition and its terms and conditions without prior notice.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES

1st Round

  • Format:
  • Presentation: Create a PowerPoint presentation that does not exceed 15 slides.

    Video: Includes an introductory video of up to 2 minutes in length.

    The total size of submitted files must not exceed 1GB.


  • Submission Guideline:
  • Proposal should address the following points:

    1. PROBLEM STATEMENT

    2. IDEA

    3. BENEFITS

    4. IMPLEMENTATION


 

Final Round

  • Update Proposal Content: Revise and enhance the content of your initial proposal based on feedback and insights gained.

  • Prototype Presentation: Include a prototype or visual representation of your idea to illustrate its functionality and design.

  • Presentations will be conducted face-to-face in front of the judges.

  • The total size of submitted files must not exceed 1GB.
